Charlie H., a Heritage resident, participated in an event on July 24, 2004 to raise money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment. Last year, Charlie braved cold water, in a wet suit, swimming one leg of a relay across Long Island Sound for Swim Across America. This year he swam his mile in the Heritage pool and beat his own record of 72 laps (1 mile) in less than 30 minutes.

Just before starting, Charlie says
"Wish me luck -- you never know what I might find in the water."
I had some Heritage friends pace me -- and then an alligator showed up!
(The pacers were Kevin Farrell, Hans Maeder and "Allie")
Many residents came out to the pool to support Charlie's feat.
Our Official Time Keepers, Dorianne and Walter, kept Charlie on schedule to surpass his personal best.
The event was well documented by the famous GoodYear Blimp!

The crowd cheered him on ...

Here he comes finishing the last leg!

Touchdown!

The euphoria of a champion.
These are Charlie's rewards ...
Thanks, everyone, for your Love and Support.
You gave over $ 3,000 for this great cause!
