HERITAGE HOME & GARDEN CLUB VISITS Cypress Gardens Moncks Corner, SC Wednesday, October 20, 2004 The Gardens were once a part of Dean Hall Plantation. Rice cultivation began around 1720 using the "inland" method. The old Rice reservoir is now referred to as the Cypress Gardens Swamp.
The group arrived early and was given an introductory talk by the Cypress Garden representative.

We were separated into two groups: one group went on the scenic, guided, flat bottom boat trip through the cypress swamp.

This is a footbridge as part of the nature trail around the Cypress Swamp

This was built especially for the movie the Patriot. Recognize the campsite?

Nature abounds in the swamp with turtles, flowers and sightings of alligators.
