Cypress Gardens

The Gardens were once a part of Dean Hall Plantation. Rice cultivation began around 1720 using the "inland" method. The old Rice reservoir is now referred to as the Cypress Gardens Swamp.
Introduction
The group arrived early and was given an introductory talk by the Cypress Garden representative.

We were separated into two groups: one group went on the scenic,
guided, flat bottom boat trip through the cypress swamp.
Footbridge This is a footbridge as part of the nature trail around the Cypress Swamp Movie Set This was built especially for the movie the Patriot.
Recognize the campsite?

Nature abounds in the swamp with turtles, flowers and sightings of alligators.
