Club & Welcome Committee
Our Heritage Plantation community benefits greatly from volunteers who donate their time on committees. This web site has featured several of those groups in the past. This month we feature the Club Committee and the Welcome Committee. These are actually separate committees but there is close cooperation between them and some people serve on both.
Heritage Club Committee. The mandate of this group is to work with the Board of Directors of the Heritage Plantation Owners Association to provide effective utilization of the HPOA Club. This covers a wide range of responsibilities. Did you realize that the "HPOA Club" officially consists of the Owners' Clubhouse, Pool, Tennis Courts, Playground, Parking Lot, Heritage Marina, Marina Clubhouse, Dry Storage and Boat Parking Area?

The Club Committee reviews the policies and regulations of the Clubhouse and recommends changes to the Board of Directors. It participates in community meetings to research residents' opinions regarding the Clubhouse. It makes recommendations for purchases of furnishings for the HPOA Club as well as maintenance and repairs for the Club. It operates within a budget approved by the Board of Directors. However, ....
The most visible function of the Club Committee is to coordinate social events at Heritage throughout the year.

You get the idea. Actually the Club Committee's term runs from April 1 of one year to April 31 of the following year. During this period, the 2005 Committee also sponsored these Social Events; November 2005: Welcome Social; January 2006: Nature Walk about Alligator and Snakes; February 2006: Super Bowl Party; March 2006: Game Night.

Thanks to all Club Committee members over the years. The current committee consists of Ann B, Eleonor C, June D, Joan F, Barbara J, Barbara L, Karen L, Penny L, Marlene M, Debbie M, Forrest M, and Bill T(consultant). Laura K, Administrative Coordinator, attends meetings and is vital to the committee's operations. Outgoing members, who contributed greatly to the events described on this page are Skip B, Carol B, Libbie G and Rosemary W.

Welcome Committee. This committee greets new residents, familiarizes them with our community and the area, answer questions they might have and assist them with the settling-in process. They also give the new residents a Welcome Bag, described below, full of information, gifts and coupons. Twice a year, together with the Club Committee, they have a Welcome Social at the Owners' Clubhouse. Newcomers are recognized and meet with current residents. The next one is May 28, 2006 and is combined with the Memorial Day Party.
Eleonor Eleonor
Eleonor C, chair of the Welcome Committee, prepares a welcome packet. Eleonor C and Pat M visit our lastest new residents, Alan and Katie B.
Typically, Eleonor collects the coupons and information for the surrounding community and Laura K collects material related to Heritage.

Welcome Visit: One or more members of the committee visits the new resident, bringing a Welcome Bag. This contains many items, too numerous to list completely. There is a folder about Heritage, magazines and brochures from the area, information about the library and promotional items provided by local businesses. These have included Heritage license plates, a directory, coupons, mugs, calendars and maps. Heritage activities are described in detail and the new residents are given the phones number of several residents to call in case questions or problems arise later.
New homeowners often are not in Heritage full time so it is difficult to guarantee that we catch everyone when they are here. If you are a New Resident and have not had a Welcome Visit, please let Laura or a committee member know that you are ready for your Welcome Visit.

Thanks to all Welcome Committee members over the years. The current committee consists of Eleonor C, chair, Connie B, Sonjia B, Jackie B, Patty B, Roz B, Sandra F, Demi G, Libbie G, Kay H, Pat M, Dotty M, Carolyn S and Beverly S.
