| As our Heritage Community continues to grow, our various Boards recognized the need for additional space to hold, events, and activities. For most of us, the Marina is a special place to visit the “River” so this seemed like a natural space to expand. |

First, our own Ray Laney, an experienced builder, drew the plans and with our dock master, Doug, got them approved by all relevant local and federal authorities. Next, Ray partnered with neighbor and boater, Bob Kretz, another experienced builder and craftsman, to get started. A professional contractor was selected to set the poles and beams, and now all kinds of Heritage volunteers have joined the team to finish the project, and are there working nearly every day. They are joined by a number of “supervisors.” Ray is on the left in the "Navy" hat conferring with the contractor. |

The workday for the “volunteers” starts early and ends about 3:00 pm as the tides change and the SC afternoon heat builds. They leave their “precarious” work positions on narrow beams, over the water; organize their materials and assignments for the next day; have a laugh and maybe an adult beverage, talk over the days’ events and head for home. Construction progress is remarkable. Thank goodness, no injuries reported.

You should stop by to see what is happening at our beautiful marina and thank these generous volunteers for making Heritage an even greater asset for all. If you’re able, you can also volunteer for “duty.” Here are some of our spectators.
