Budapest - Saved the Best for Last |
The Buda side | Chain Bridge between Buda and Pest | The Pest side |
As we sailed into Budapest we saw the dramatic split between Buda to the West and Pest to the East. They are linked by several famous bridges, including the Chain Bridge. We sailed past our hotel, the InterContinental Budapest and docked on the same side. |

We took a tour of Budapest by day and another tour of Budapest by night. Tired but happy when we went to bed; a bit groggy the next day. | ||

And then the day we looked forward to all week. Our good friend Laszlo arranged for his sister Julianna to take us to their childhood home in Faad, 80 kilometers south of Budapest. She drove us through some beautiful Hungarian countryside, stopping first in Kalocsa to see where Laszlo went to school and have a mid-morning snack. Laszlo's old school serves a new purpose but is still there. |

We then travelled to Faad and joined one of Laszlo's daughters, Yan, who lives in Faad. The four of us travelled on to a nearby town and ate an authentic Hungarian lunch - delicious. Then back to Faad for a tour which included Yan's house and Laszlo's childhood church, with a stained glass window he donated. Yan gave us some authenic Hungarian peppers. |
